Mechanical Fitter – Shift Fitter

 

About the Role

Gladstone Ports Corporation is seeking trade experienced Mechanical/Diesel Fitters to join our maintenance team for the permanent role within the Heavy Equipment Maintenance as a Mechanical Shift Fitter.

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working in a dedicated team, you will be accountable for all aspects of maintenance including general overhaul work on plant and equipment to support its safe and efficient operation. 

 

Key accountabilities shall include but not limited to;

  • Undertake mechanical maintenance trade services in accordance with:
  • The Fitter Job Model to support the efficient operation of all GPC plant and equipment;
  • Known routines, methods and procedures which require the exercise of discretion and judgement.
  • Undertake safe work practices and promptly address any safety issues for hazard minimisation and injury prevention;
  • Comply with GPC’s environmental control policies/procedures and promptly address environmental issues to minimise harm;
  • Organise work schedule, prioritising against established maintenance plans and strategies;
  • Prioritise work to ensure quality job completion within identified timeframes;
  • Work towards achieving financial responsibility through identification of cost saving measures and effective utilisation of resources;

 

About You

We are looking for a trade qualified fitter with experience in providing plant maintenance. To be successful in this role you will need to have; a great personal drive, strong communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to work within a diverse team environment and a strong personal commitment to safety.

 

The following skills and experience are required to be considered for the role:

  • Trade qualification as a certified Mechanical / Diesel Tradesperson (Mandatory);
  • C Class Driver’s Licence - Manual Transmission (Mandatory);
  • Elevated Work Platform (Desirable);
  • Forklift (Desirable);
  • Overhead Gantry greater than 5 tonnes (Desirable);
  • Ability to obtain and maintains MSIC.
