Gladstone Ports Corporation Ltd (GPC) plays a vital role in supporting global trade through safe, efficient and sustainable port operations. We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical/Diesel Fitters to join our Unloading and Shiploading Maintenance teams within Asset Management.
This is a permanent opportunity to work in a heavy-industry environment where safety, teamwork and performance matter.
The Role
Reporting to the Unloading/Shiploading Maintenance Supervisor, you will be accountable for delivering mechanical maintenance services to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of plant and equipment across GPC operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake mechanical maintenance and overhaul work in line with the Fitter Job Model, established routines and procedures
- Apply sound judgement and discretion when carrying out maintenance activities
- Maintain a strong safety focus, promptly addressing hazards and unsafe conditions
- Comply with environmental policies and take action to minimise environmental harm
- Plan and prioritise work in line with maintenance strategies and schedules
- Ensure high-quality work is delivered within agreed timeframes
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and use resources efficiently
- Model GPC values, Code of Conduct, and Health, Safety and Environment requirements
About You
You are a skilled tradesperson with heavy industry experience who takes pride in quality workmanship, safety leadership and collaboration. You work well within a team, communicate effectively, and are committed to continuous improvement.
Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements
- Trade qualification as a certified Mechanical or Diesel Tradesperson
- C Class Driver’s Licence (manual)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)

- Elevated Work Platform
- Forklift
Technical Skills & Experience
- Maintenance of coal loading systems and conveyors
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Heavy industry maintenance environments
