Wintringham provides care and support services through residential facilities which assist an older person to retain their chosen lifestyles, habits, and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.
Your new role
Wintringham is seeking Recreation Officers to take on weekend shifts at our Angus Martin House.
This dynamic position offers 10 hours per fortnight, with shifts from occurring every Saturday.
In this Supported Residential Service position you will assist the Recreation Coordinator to continually develop and facilitate individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client.
The roster is as below:
Week 1: Saturday (1000 – 1500)
Week 2: Saturday (1000 – 1500)
Your responsibilities and duties will include:
- Assist with facilitating onsite recreation activities, either with groups of residents or 1:1, as directed by the Coordinator
- Assist with facilitating offsite recreation activities, including driving the bus, either groups of residents, or 1:1, as directed by the Coordinator
- Ensuring clients individual recreation interests are established and facilitated.
- Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts.
- Assisting in the maintenance of accurate and relevant documentation is up to date and meets ACFI requirements.
- Duties as directed by the Recreation Coordinator.
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Current drivers licence (mandatory)
- Recreation, Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent qualifications (soon-to-be or recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
- Ability and desire to work with clients with challenging and complex needs
- Interest in social justice issues
- Prior experience in Homelessness, Aged Care, Welfare, Disability, Allied Health or Community Care
- Current First Aid Certificate 2 or willing to obtain to obtain
