Who are we?

Wintringham is a Not for Profit organisation that employs over 800 staff and provides aged care services to those who are financially disadvantaged, have previously been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Located in Frankston, Angus Martin House is a Supported Residential Service that provides care and support for 45 men and women. We promote independence, and our team of staff are on site 24 hours per day to assist and maximise the health and wellbeing of our residents, whilst respecting their options, dignity and rights.  

 

Wintringham is renowned for the quality and personalised range of lifestyle and recreation activities/outcomes we support our residents to achieve. We distance ourselves from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to recreation and our multi-skilled Recreation team blend elements of recreation and leisure counselling to create an individualised approach to activities that are both meaningful and tailored to our residents’ interests.

 

Your new role

Wintringham is seeking a Recreation Officer to join our Angus Martin House (Supported Residential Service) team on a Part Time basis. We are seeking candidates who are available to work:

  • 3 hour shift every Saturday & Sunday (shift times are flexible)

 

Candidates eager for more hours across the week will be looked on favourably, there is also additional work available in the Community programs and NDIS programs! In this role, you will utilise your interpersonal communication skills to build rapport with our residents and identify areas of recreation that they would like to pursue. You will also advocate the benefits of recreation to residents, especially to those who have previously been socially isolated due to their homeless and financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

 

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Ensuring residents’ individual recreation interests are established and facilitated.
  • Encouraging residents to maintain their community associations and contacts.
  • Promoting recreational opportunities available within the broader community.
  • Facilitating residents’ access to programs that will assist the maintenance of their independence.
  • Facilitating residents’ access to venues, events and recreational opportunities.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of accurate and relevant documentation is up to date and meets ACFI requirements.
  • Duties as directed by the Recreation Coordinator.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Current drivers licence (mandatory)
  • Own reliable vehicle that is suitable for transporting clients and work purposes (mandatory)
  • Recreation, Leisure & Lifestyle qualifications or relevant degree level (soon-to-be or recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Ability and desire to work with clients with challenging and complex needs
  • Interest in social justice issues
  • Prior experience in Homelessness, Aged Care,Welfare, Disability, Allied Health or Community Care
  • Current First Aid Certificate 2
