We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to work as a member of a small team to provide support to a man in his thirties. You will welcome the opportunity to focus your skills and experience to make a significant difference in the life of this man who is embracing living independently in his own home and community.
He takes pride in his home, his independence and in his achievements. He enjoys the company of family and close friends, having a laugh, writing and volunteering his time in the community. He is known for his love of the outdoors; picnics, bush walking, camping and sailing. He is intelligent, perceptive and a keen observer of life. He possesses an inner strength and resilience, calmly facing the challenges in his life as he strives for growth, personal development and fulfilment.
He is surrounded by a strong informal support system and social framework that includes his family and informal networks, who play a central role in his life, providing encouragement, guidance and oversight. As such, his life is real, dynamic and sometimes messy and each of his team members will need to embrace this in their role. He has a dedicated small team of support workers who assist him in daily tasks and help him navigate independent living.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will collaborate closely with the young man, his family, and informal supports to provide exceptional, person-centred and developmental support. Your role will focus on doing with, not for, empowering him to actively participate in his daily life and activities. You will be committed to providing consistent support, following procedures and guidelines and working collaboratively with your fellow team members. Additionally, you will support this man in achieving his broader goals, including community involvement. Through your approach, you will encourage and promote his independence, as well as his ability to make choices and decisions.
Your duties will include:
- Supporting the person with their communication, implementing their multiple, complex, communication strategies.
- Supporting the person’s personal dignity and well being in all activities and at all times.
- Assisting the person with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household chores, and transportation.
- Supporting social and community participation, including attending events, outings, and appointments.
- Supporting the person to thrive in his home by maintaining his routines and rhythm, ensuring his environment remains safe, welcoming, and conducive to self-expression, while also creating opportunities for him to invite important others in as he chooses.
- Supporting him to attain valued roles and maintain and develop relationships.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with the person, his family, and informal supports.
- Following individual support plans and providing feedback to the Supervising Team Leader and other professionals as required.
- Maintaining clear and accurate documentation such as shift notes, incident reports and medication records.
About You

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working in disability support.
- Understanding of person-centred, strengths-based, and rights-focused approaches.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- A car, valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
- Availability for flexible hours, including some weekend or evening shifts.
- Completion of the NDIS Quality, Safety, and You module.
Hours
This is a part-time, casual role. Hours will be variable and fluctuate based on the requirements of the man. In this role, you will be required to work day, evening and overnight (inactive) shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
A minimum hours of commitment is 25 hours per fortnight not including sleepover shifts (8 hours).
Pay Rates:
- Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm shift - $39.75 per hour
- Monday to Friday 8pm - 6am - shift $44.52 per hour
- Saturdays - $55.65 per hour
- Sunday - $71.55 per hour
- Public Holidays - $87.45 per hour
- Sleepover allowance $120 per shift
