About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has come up for a dynamic and proactive managerial professional to step into the pivotal full-time role as National Auditor Manager.  You will provide expertise, direction, and support to our remote team of Auditors, facilitating objective and reputable audit processes across all programs, in line with AUS-MEAT's policies and accredited program requirements.

Based at our head office in Murarrie, Brisbane, this role is pivotal to the business’ ongoing success with accountability for the ongoing professional development, performance improvement, and quality of audits for the Audit team. This role also directs and manages our audit scheduling and travel coordination team (Audit Operations team) to ensure the right auditor is assigned to the right audit with the right travel plan.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate and support the AUS-MEAT strategic and operational plans.
  • Contribute to recruitment planning and process in association with key stakeholders to meet capability targets.
  • In liaison with Program Management and Human Resources, implement the comprehensive Auditor Onboarding Program.
  • Develop and implement an engagement strategy for Auditors that is fit for purpose for a remote and mobilised workforce.
  • Positively liaise with Audit Operations regarding Auditor schedules, time/fatigue management, travel/trips, expenses, timesheets, resourcing and skill requirements.
  • Act as a conduit for Auditor feedback, questions or concerns, and ensure relevant communications are regularly distributed and understood by all Auditors.
  • Ensure the optimisation of workforce utilisation metrics and actively monitor potential fatigue indicators; implementing risk reduction strategies to eliminate potential incidents.
  • Work with Program Management, Human Resources, and Safety, Environment & Quality to review Auditor KPI metrics and identify ways to further improve the monitoring systems.
  • Conduct initial investigations responding to customer reports or complaints in line with organisational policy and procedures, ensuring the Safety, Environment & Quality Manager is kept appraised of complaint processes, findings and resolutions; escalating to Human Resources as required.
  • Conduct periodical auditor capability review and ensure the Skills Register is kept up to date.
  • Support performance development processes in consultation with Human Resources where an employees’ quality, performance or conduct is not meeting AUS-MEAT’s core values, direction or expectations.
  • Regularly analyse travel itineraries and expenditures with the Travel Coordinator to ensure compliance with AUS-MEAT policies and represent value for money.
  • Act as primary contact for Auditor out-of-hours support.

About You

The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Business, Audit, Management or related discipline, with hands on experience in managing, engaging and developing a large remote or hybrid team. Demonstrating practical experience in conducting external audits, compliance assessments, or experience in a compliance body will set you above other candidates.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the ability to clearly articulate expectations and then hold to your principles and standards under pressure, consistently demonstrating Quality and Integrity as the primary values in all decisions, process, performance, and improvement initiatives.

You will be diplomatic with high-level organisational skills, with the agility and resilience to allow you navigate interpersonal associations, build rapport, learn, and respond quickly to competing or changing priorities.

Importantly, you will be technically proficient to use relevant mobile devices, I.T. and digital systems, including inhouse apps (once trained), MS Office and online/cloud-based systems.

Vaccinations and Additional Information

At AUS-MEAT, we prioritize safety.

  • You will need to check your Q-fever immunity, and, if necessary, receive the Q-fever vaccination for any site visits you conduct.
  • A clear National Police Check is required to meet the ‘Fit & Proper Person Standard’.
  • You need to hold a current unrestricted Australian driver licence.
  • You will need to be able to travel from time to time to visit interstate and NZ team members.
