What's the Opportunity
AUS-MEAT Limited has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Program Manager (Meat Standards) as part of our Meat Accreditation Language and Standards group.
Primarily based at our Brisbane head office in Murarrie, this unique and specialist role will be provided with the necessary training from the leading experts in the field to ensure the successful candidate is well-positioned to meet our expectations in the servicing and delivery of these programs.
The role's primary objective is to take ownership and provide effective leadership, management, and technical support for the delegated programs and services. This role will become the primary technical expert of the standards and provide support to the audit, review and administration teams as well as external industry committees. This role supports the business to achieve its strategic objectives by delivering and continually improving on the key outcomes and quality of service to the industry.

- Non-Packer Exporter (NPE) accreditation
- Further Processors accreditation
- EU Grain Fed High Quality Beef evaluations
- Meat Standards Australia Plant based audits
- Market Certificates
- OsCap / ABCAS grader correlation systems
- Meat Messaging administration
- Animal Raising Claims
What are the key responsibilities
Reporting into the Accreditation, Language & Standards Manager, some of the key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Ensure an up to date working knowledge of relevant legislation, Standards, and contemporary practices; this includes pending changes, trends, end-user sentiments, market pressure or impacts, and best practice research.
- Ensure customer audits are conducted in accordance with client and/or Standard requirements.
- Communicate and articulate technical information and Standard interpretation to stakeholders in a manner in which they understand and can implement the requirements.
- Maintain the stability of program and service outcomes including financial, customer experience, technical accuracy and issue resolution metrics.
- Develop and maintain a professional network to provide expertise and knowledge as well as connection to stakeholder trends and concerns across the industry.
- Obtain feedback from, and assess the needs of program stakeholders, including program owners, industry committees, and certification bodies; ensuring AUS-MEAT is meeting those needs.
- Provide technical support, training, and expertise for AUS-MEAT staff in program standards, audit requirements, and queries.
- Report on agreed program performance metrics.
- Ensure approved budgets and resources are managed in line with relevant Finance policy and procedures.
About You
The successful candidate should have formal post-secondary qualifications in agriculture or related disciplines and have a minimum of five (5) years of operational experience in ruminant livestock processing including experience with AUS-MEAT Chiller Assessment and Meat Standards Australia Grading (MSA). Knowledge and experience in quality assurance, external audit, and/or industry committee exposure will place any candidate well within the shortlist.
Interest in new technologies and how they can benefit the Red Meat industry would be an advantage. Experience in leading a business function with a budget is also highly desirable.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to read and prepare industry standards, white papers or case studies and interpret that information for key stakeholders such as auditors, clients and committee members. You will have knowledge of the techniques, issues, processes, industry and regulatory systems associated with the production and transportation of livestock for human consumption. Demonstrated client relationship development skills, as well as a professional demeanour, will set you above other candidates.
You will have an understanding of the principles and processes for providing client and interpersonal support at professional standard.
You will be skilled in the proficient use of MS Office, providing 1:1 support over digital communication platforms and have the ability to develop credibility and relationships with the industry quickly.
You will have high-level organisational skills, with the agility and resilience to allow you to navigate interpersonal associations, build rapport, learn, and respond quickly to competing priorities.
