The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for a hardworking, motivated individual to work as a Mechanic for Barcaldine Regional Council. The successful applicant will be responsible for the operations of the workshop, the successful delivery of technical and practical diesel fitting and mechanics of heavy plant/vehicles, petrol mechanics and small engines. The position provides the opportunity to work on a wide variety of plant and equipment that supports the work of Council on behalf of the community.

What's on Offer?

Location: This position is based in Alpha with Regional Work and Travel as required.

Classification Level: To be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Wage: To be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.

Hours of work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off every fortnight.

Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

Successful Applicant Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or similar;
  • Current Queensland class 'C' Driver Licence;
  • Current lawful Queensland Construction Safety Induction (white/blue) Card;
  • Demonstrated successful delivery of technical and practical fitting, repair, and maintenance skills (small engines and heavy plant);
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent customer service abilities;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements;
  • Completion of a National Criminal History Check to Council’s satisfaction; and
  • Completion of a Pre-employment Medical Examination to Council’s satisfaction
