The Opportunity:

As the IT officer, you will be responsible for providing general IT support to employees, ensuring systems are operating effectively at all times, and contributing to overall IT growth with Barcaldine Regional Council.

You will oversee the management of IT ticket requests, identify potential improvements in the IT support system, create and maintain documentation related to IT processes and procedures, and provide user support where required.

What's on Offer?

Location: This position is based in Barcaldine with regional work and travel as required.

Classification Level: Minimum level 4.1 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award - State 2017 and Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2022.

Wage: Base rate of $1365.03 per week + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly

Hours of work: 72.5 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight

Leave Entitlements: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum

Successful Applicant Requirements:

  • Completion of an appropriate Information Technology Certification (minimum Cert IV) and short courses supporting the ongoing training and development in the IT space
  • Demonstrated experience and/or qualifications in leading and managing projects
  • Experience in working with Microsoft 365 and Windows desktops, and organisational business applications
  • Success in developing and delivering IT training using various mediums to reach attendees
  • Ability to actively promote the use of technology, constructively working towards improved organisational efficiency
  • Excellent customer service skills with a positive, can-do attitude
