Join our team as a casual Community Care Officer!

 

This is a casual position offered on a fixed-term contract basis for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.

 

In this role, you will work with autonomy, patience and empathy to help our clients with a variety of daily domestic, social, respite and personal care services including:

  • Social support: Taking clients on outings to the shops, the bank, a café, or out for a walk.
  • Transport: Taking clients to appointments or respite care.
  • Domestic Assistance: Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, emptying garbage, washing dishes, and laundry.
  • Personal Care: Showering and assisting with other personal grooming.
  • Medication: Supervising medication dosage and administration.

This position is regional, offering the flexibility to be based anywhere! While Barcaldine is preferred, it's not mandatory, with the expectation that you will be sent wherever needed. If required to work in district areas for short periods, a CCS vehicle will be provided for transport to the destination, and temporary fully furnished or motel accommodation will be provided.

What's on Offer?

Location: Regional (Barcaldine preferred). Regional work and travel is required.

Classification Level: To be negotiated with successful applicant

Wage: To be negotiated with successful applicant

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly

Hours of work: Up to 25 hours per week

Successful Applicant Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care / Individual Care / Disability Care or able to demonstrate equivalent related experience and be willing to complete the certificate;
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Accreditation;
  • A current Qld Class 'C' Drivers Licence;
  • Knowledge and a basic understanding of the Aged Care and NDIS Sector and relevant legislation with past experience delivering general and personal services support;
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision whilst retaining client privacy and confidentiality as well as exercising initiative, judgment and the ability to plan and manage own time;
  • Demonstrated ability to cooperatively work in a team environment, contributing positively to team operations; and  
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to maintain a safe working environment, and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
