About the Role:
Join our team as a Finance Officer!
Are you a detail-oriented professional with a knack for numbers and a passion for keeping financial processes running smoothly? We're looking for a skilled Finance Officer to join our team in Alpha for a 12 month period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle all Accounts Payable activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing and compliance with Council policies.
- Accurately allocate payments to budget cost centres and provide financial reports to aid in performance management.
- Offer administrative and financial backup support to the Alpha administration team.
- Maintain records and systems according to legislative requirements, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
Position Specifics:
- Location: This position is based in Alpha with Regional work and travel as required.
- Classification Level: Minimum level 3.1 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award - State 2017, and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2022.
- Wage: Minimum base salary of $74,446.32 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.
- Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.
- Hours of work: This is a fixed-term role for a 12-month period, with a work schedule of 72.5 hours over 9 days, and a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight.

What You'll Need:
- Relevant formal qualifications in an appropriate field is highly regarded;
- Current QLD class 'C' Driver Licence;
- Recent experience with computerised accounts payable systems;
- Strong numeracy and high-level data entry skills;
- Analytical problem-solving abilities and solution development;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and records management systems;
- Excellent customer service skills for internal and external clients;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Effective self-management and time management, with the ability to work independently.
