The Barcaldine Region is located in central west Queensland approximately 440km west of Rockhampton, covering an area of 53,677 sq km with an estimated population of 2,900 people.
The Regional Council is made up of the former Shires of Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho including the towns of Alpha, Jericho, Barcaldine, Aramac and Muttaburra.
The region is one of the largest cattle producing regions in Central Western Queensland and also has a productive sheep, wool and macropod harvesting industry with the prospect of mining.

Are you a natural leader with a knack for teamwork and a passion for keeping communities vibrant and beautiful? Barcaldine Regional Council is on the hunt for a dynamic Works Supervisor to oversee town services and make a real difference in the Barcaldine community.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Leading and coordinating a team to maintain and improve town facilities, including parks, gardens, cemeteries, footpaths, showgrounds and more.
- Overseeing the upkeep of waste services, including kerbside collections and tip maintenance.
- Leading Airport Reporting Officer duties, ensuring timely resolution of maintenance issues.
- Managing planned maintenance schedules, setting priorities, and monitoring workflows to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality upkeep of Council facilities.
- Delivering exceptional customer service, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive working environment.

Location: This position is based in Barcaldine with regional work and travel as required.
Classification Level: Minimum level 5.1 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2022.
Wage: Minimum base salary of $86,892.21 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.
Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.
Hours of work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off every fortnight.
Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

What we are looking for:
- Chemical Licence or ACDC ticket, or willingness to obtain.
- Current Queensland class 'C' Driver Licence.
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card) or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills to connect with internal teams and the community.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire diverse teams to deliver great results.
- Hands-on experience with small to medium plant equipment.
- A talent for problem-solving, time management, and staying on top of details.
- Technical knowledge in horticulture and landscaping to keep our towns thriving.
- Familiarity with road signage, safety standards, and Council operations.
