The Barcaldine Region is located in central west Queensland approximately 440km west of Rockhampton, covering an area of 53,677 sq km with an estimated population of 2,900 people.
The Regional Council is made up of the former Shires of Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho including the towns of Alpha, Jericho, Barcaldine, Aramac and Muttaburra.
The region is one of the largest cattle producing regions in Central Western Queensland and also has a productive sheep, wool and macropod harvesting industry with the prospect of mining.
About the Role:
Barcaldine Regional Council is seeking a responsible, organised and experienced individual for the role of Project Engineer. You will be responsible for effectively managing and coordinating our engineering projects whilst ensuring construction exceeds standards and legislation, minimising risk and ensuring that Barcaldine Regional Council meets performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for (but not limited to);
- Planning and scheduling of day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
- Monitoring and control of expenditure on jobs to ensure the cost-effective completion of projects.
- Engineering discipline tasks as directed by management staff.
- Project procurement.
- Review and critical analysis of project documentation to identify potential issues, and ensure construction is completed to design and specifications.
- Completion of Quality and Inspection documentation of works in conjunction with Client and site supervision staff.
- Raising Technical Queries, Non-Conformances and other technical documents.
- Liaising with site and client staff to resolve Technical Queries, potential issues, etc.
- Scheduling of construction activities to maintain efficiency, mitigate delays and clearly identify shortfalls.

What's on Offer?
Location: This position is based in Barcaldine, with Regional Work and Travel as required.
Wage: Package to be negotiated + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.
Payment of Wages: Council employees will be paid fortnightly.
Leave Entitlements: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% Loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

What we are looking for:
- Tertiary degree qualification in Civil Engineering and demonstrated experience in civil construction engineering.
- Unwavering commitment to Zero Harm at all times.
- Experience in construction delivery projects (water experience highly advantageous).
- Pragmatic disposition, willingness to learn, excellent communicator and collaborative nature.
- Project Scheduling proficiency with MS Projects.
- Thorough reporting and time management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and presenting Engineering and Quality statistics reports.
- A sound understanding of Microsoft office programs.
- C Class driver's licence as a minimum.
- Customer focus and responsive to customer requirements.
- Motivation and great work ethic.
