Plant Operator (Grader)

About the Role: 

Are you a skilled grader operator or an experienced machinery operator looking to step up into a grader? Barcaldine Regional Council is looking for a seasoned grader operator or passionate trainee to join our Alpha works crew. In this role, you will be essential in ensuring our road maintenance and construction projects are completed to a high standard.

Location: This position is based in Alpha with Regional work and travel as required.

Classification Level: Minimum Level 6 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2022. 

Wage: Minimum base salary of $69,612.92 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.

Hours of work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight.

Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

What You'll Need: 

• Minimum QLD Class 'C' Drivers Licence (MR Licence highly regarded);
• Current Construction Card (White/Blue Card);
• Minimum two (2) years' experience operating Graders up to final trim standard, or proven machinery operation experience;
• Strong understanding of construction and maintenance project requirements;
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications;
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Proven ability to safely and effectively perform hazardous manual tasks, such as lifting, digging, shovelling, and using powered tools.
