The Barcaldine Region is located in central west Queensland approximately 440km west of Rockhampton, covering an area of 53,677 sq km with an estimated population of 2,900 people.
The Regional Council is made up of the former Shires of Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho including the towns of Alpha, Jericho, Barcaldine, Aramac and Muttaburra.
The region is one of the largest cattle producing regions in Central Western Queensland and also has a productive sheep, wool and macropod harvesting industry with the prospect of mining.
About the role:
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Ordering, receiving, issuing, and monitoring fuel, small plant items, tools, and external employee uniforms.
- Maintaining depot sheds and storerooms in a clean, neat, and tidy condition.
- Ensuring timely ordering of goods to maintain availability for Council works.
- Conducting regular stocktakes to ensure accuracy in Council's accounting system.
- Performing procurement activities in alignment with Council policies.
- Maintaining the appearance, cleanliness and tidiness of the works depot.
- Assist the Rural Lands Officer with pest management activities at the Alpha Clearing Dip Yard, as required.

Location: This position is based in Alpha, with Regional Work and Travel as required.
Classification Level: Minimum Level 3.1 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2022.
Wage: Minimum base salary of $77,052.04 per annum + up to 12% Superannuation contribution.
Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.
Hours of work: 72.5 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight.
Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days personal leave (sick leave) per annum.

What we are looking for:
- Completion of a year 12 certificate or equivalent.
- Current Queensland class 'C' Driver Licence.
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card) or equivalent.
- Current Hight Risk Work (Forklift) Licence, Desirable but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in a similar role or in procuring goods and services.
- Previous experience in Local Government or other Government bodies (desirable but not mandatory).
- Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support, ensuring a high degree of judgement, initiative, confidentiality, and sensitivity.
