Your Role in Our Team
We are looking a full-time Carpenter based in the Barcaldine Region, QLD, with regional travel as required.
Carpenters will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair across Council facilities and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and Australian Standards.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Studying and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to execute construction and repair tasks accurately.
- Assist supervisors with structural design, planning, layout, and installation.
- Document repairs and maintain accurate records.
- Conduct building inspections to identify and prioritise necessary repairs.
- Perform repair and installation tasks, including doors, windows, drywall, cabinets, stairs, and other fixtures as required.
- Assess the quality of woodwork and materials to ensure durability and compliance with standards.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and health and safety regulations.

Are You the Right Fit?
To qualify, you will need a Certificate III in Carpentry and a minimum of 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in the building industry. You will also require the following:
- Current Queensland Class ‘C’ Driver Licence
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card)
- Forklift certification (Desirable)
- Asbestos awareness training (Desirable)
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Extensive knowledge of power tools, including skill saws, mire saws, and jigsaws.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically capable with good hand-eye coordination.
As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. You will demonstrate initiative, responsibility, and excellent time management, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
