About the Role:
Overview: Council is seeking to fill the Full-Time position of Rural Lands Officer in Alpha. We are looking for a self-motivated, hardworking and reliable individual to successfully perform all rural lands management functions in an efficient and effective manner. Location: Based in the Alpha/Jericho District with Regional Work and Travel as required
Classification Level: Level 7 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award
Wage: Minimum base salary of $73,747.96 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances
Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly
Hours of work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight
Leave Entitlements: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% Loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver the full range of rural responsibilities as part of the rural services team, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, while maintaining a strong customer service focus.

Work collaboratively across the organisation, sharing knowledge and experiences to identify opportunities for innovation and improved efficiency and effectiveness of Council operations.

Undertake pest plant and animal management, including:

Lead all aspects of pest plant and animal management within region related to the role, including establishing and maintaining a pest mapping tool, and the management of Road Maintenance and Performance Contract (RMPC) funded weed-spraying initiatives

Liaise with the Work team and the Parks and Gardens team to ensure collaborative weed-spraying efforts

Perform rural lands management functions efficiently and effectively, including but not limited to:

Conducting routine surveillance to identify and map locations of weeds

Coordinating and undertaking weed control activities on Council-controlled land

Participating in wild dog control activities in line with Council’s pest management practices

Enforcing compliance with permits and legislative provisions under the Land Protection (Pest and Stock Route Management) Act 2022

Maintaining and managing Town Commons and other Council land reserves
