Plant Operator (Sweeper Truck)

About the Role: 

We are seeking a skilled and reliable operator to drive and maintain our Sweeper Truck (HR Licence required). This position is based in Barcaldine and forms part of a monthly regional work schedule.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the Sweeper Truck across multiple towns within the region, ensuring each community receives consistent and effective street cleaning services. As the truck is based in Barcaldine, regular travel will be required as part of this role.

When not undertaking sweeping operations, you will support the Barcaldine Town Crew with a range of maintenance and beautification activities, contributing to the presentation and upkeep of the local community.

Location: This position is based in Barcaldine with Regional work and travel as required.

Classification Level: Level 5 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2025. 

Wage: Minimum base salary of $70,474.56 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.

Hours of work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight.

Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

What You'll Need: 

  • Minimum QLD Class 'HR' Drivers Licence;
  • Current Construction Card (White/Blue Card);
  • Minimum 2 years' experience operating plant of a 'HR' licence class level;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Willingness to participate in a regional work schedule.
