Plant Operator (Grader)

Location: This position is based in Aramac with regional work and travel as required.

Classification Level: Level 6 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award – State 2017 and the Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2025. 

Wage: Minimum base salary of $75,471.45 per annum + Superannuation (up to 12%) and relevant approved allowances.

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.

Hours of Work: 76 hours over 9 days with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight.

Leave: Five (5) weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% loading. Fifteen (15) days Personal Leave (sick leave) per annum.

Located in Central West Queensland, approximately 440km west of Rockhampton, the Barcaldine Region covers more than 53,677 square kilometers and is home to around 2,900 residents. It encompasses the former shires of Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho and includes the townships of Alpha, Aramac, Barcaldine, Jericho and Muttaburra.

The region has a proud agricultural heritage and is recognised as one of Central West Queensland's largest cattle-producing areas. It also supports thriving sheep, wool and macropod harvesting industries, while continuing to grow through emerging opportunities in the mining sector.

As a Plant Operator (Grader), you will be primarily responsible for safely and effectively operating Council’s grader and other plant and equipment to support road construction and maintenance activities across the Barcaldine region. You will work collaboratively with the team to maintain and improve Council’s road network, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

• Completion of a National Criminal History Check to Council's Satisfaction
• Completion of a Pre-Employment Medical Examination to Council's Satisfaction
• General Safety Induction Card (White/Blue Card) or Equivalent
• Minimum QLD Class 'C' Drivers Licence
• Minimum 2 years' experience operating plant 
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
