Position Details

Location: This position is based in Alpha/Jericho, Barcaldine or Aramac Muttaburra District with regional work and travel as required.

Employment Opportunities: Expressions of interest may be considered for suitable opportunities as they become available across Council.

Classification Level: Minimum Level 2.1 Stream A, Local Government Industry Award - 2017 and Barcaldine Regional Council Certified Agreement 2025.

Employment Type: Opportunities may vary depending on Council’s operational requirements.

Wage: Dependent on the position, classification and applicable employment conditions.

Payment of Wages: Council employees are paid fortnightly.

Hours of Work: Hours may vary depending on the position and operational requirements.

Leave: Applicable leave entitlements will be determined by the employment arrangement.

The Role

As a Carer, you will be primarily responsible for providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to Community Care Services clients in accordance with their individual care plans. You will assist clients with services such as personal care, domestic assistance, home maintenance, social support and transport, while supporting their independence, dignity and wellbeing.

To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • Completion of a National Criminal History Check to Council's Satisfaction
  • Completion of a Pre-Employment Medical Examination to Council's Satisfaction
  • Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Care, or Disability Care, or demonstrated equivalent related experience
    with a willingness to complete the Certificate.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Quality, Safety and You (completed or willingness to obtain).
  • Successful completion of Infection Prevention and Control certification.
  • Current Queensland class ‘C’ Driver Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Accreditation (HLTAID001, HLTAID002,
    HLTAID003) .
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
  • Knowledge and a basic understanding of, or an assessed capacity to obtain an understanding of, the Aged Care
    Sector, NDIS, and relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision while maintaining client privacy and confidentiality,
    exercising initiative and judgement, and planning and managing time effectively.
  • Proven ability to contribute positively to a team environment and support team operations.
  • Sound computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, records management systems, and online
    client reporting systems.
