About the role

Are you passionate about the performing arts and excited by the opportunity to help shape a thriving creative community? Bathurst Regional Council is seeking a visionary and driven Creative Producer to join the team at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC).

The Creative Producer plays a central role in the development and growth of professional performing arts practice within the Bathurst region. Working as part of the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC) team, the Creative Producer is responsible for facilitating artistic development, fostering local talent, and building strategic partnerships that contribute to a vibrant and sustainable performing arts ecosystem.

This role is instrumental in supporting artists at various stages of their careers through commissioning new works, enabling professional development, and enhancing access to resources such as the soon to be built Ngurang Arts Residency facility.

The Creative Producer also contributes to the artistic programming, curation, and audience engagement strategies of BMEC, ensuring alignment with the Centre’s vision and community needs.

This position is funded through Create NSW on a fixed-term 2-year contract, with the potential for extension subject to continued funding.

Key Requirements

  • Practical understanding of contemporary performing arts practice
  • Knowledge of local and national performing arts practice
  • Practical experience as devisor, producer, animateur, dramaturg, production manager, director or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced skills of documentation, planning, programming, budgeting, grant applications and acquittals
  • Advanced competency with computers, including word, excel, email.
  • Current C class driver's license

This position requires a pre-employment health assessment which includes a functional and audio.

Salary: $1,453.41 per week + super

Position Status: Maximum Term  (up to 31 December 2027)

Hours of work: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday (some out of hours work including evenings and weekends may be required).
