About the Role

If you want to make a significant contribution to a growing municipality, one of our roles might be for you. Two project management positions within Council’s growing Infrastructure Delivery team are available at this time. Two more are likely to be upcoming in the new financial year.

Significant amounts of grant funding and an increase in Council’s appetite to borrow funds to provide infrastructure sooner has resulted in a higher demand for people who can manage projects. The project management positions, which all fall within the Community Infrastructure directorate of Council, look after projects from a concept through to the handover of the finished product to maintenance. Planning, design, stakeholder management, consultation, reporting, procurement, construction monitoring and a successful handover to maintenance are critical elements of the two roles.

We also have an upcoming retirement in a role which monitors developer delivered works in new subdivisions. This role bridges planning and infrastructure to ensure that new infrastructure that will be taken over by Council meets the appropriate standards and are constructed as per the approved drawings.

About the Successful Candidate

It's an exciting time for Baw Baw, we are seeking individuals that will bring three plus years of demonstrated project management or construction supervision experience, noting that more experience will be highly regarded.

It is preferable for those seeking a project management or engineering role to have a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or another relevant discipline is required. Government experience will be well regarded but not essential for the opportunities we have available.

Ideally, the successful candidates will have an appreciation of customer service, the ability to build rapport and create sustainable relationships. A given for the roles available, are well developed written and verbal communication skills,  intermediate computer skills, and strong capability when it comes to interpreting construction standards and drawings. Given the need to visit construction sites on a regular basis, a current Victorian Drivers licence and a construction white card are required.
