 About the Role

This is a key role providing a high level of confidential and professional support to the Director Planning and Development.  Responsibilities include managing the Director’s diary and emails and receiving enquiries and correspondence on behalf of the Director. 

Tasks include initiating and following up on appropriate action, including liaison with relevant Council Officers and external parties. The Executive Assistant also undertakes special projects including researching and investigating issues as requested, and scheduling and taking minutes for meetings related to the business of the Planning and Development Directorate.

A high level of discretion is required in handling sensitive or confidential information regarding community members, Councillors, the Executive team and staff.

About the Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will demonstrate alignment with the Baw Baw Shire Cultural and Safety Commitments.  Ideally you will have a Certificate IV or higher in Office Administration and/or a Diploma of Business and experience in a similar role.  You will be comfortable operating within a complex environment and using your initiative to support the smooth operation of the Directorate.

Highly developed interpersonal skills are essential, along with a demonstrated ability to communicate to a professional standard in interactions across a broad range of stakeholders. You will need exceptional time management skills and be able to quickly assess whether emerging issues need to be escalated to the Director and/or Managers. Proficiency in the preparation and presentation of accurate information/documentation to a high professional standard is important.
