About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified environment professional to join Baw Baw Shire’s Environment Sustainability team in the role of Environment Sustainability Officer, to protect and enhance Baw Baw Shire’s environment, through the delivery of strategic projects and environmental management and monitoring of Council’s resource recovery sites.

Are you passionate about environmental sustainability and eager to make a meaningful impact within your community? Baw Baw Shire is seeking a dedicated Environmental Sustainability Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in safeguarding and enhancing our environment through the implementation of strategic projects and effective environmental management practices. Some of the Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Overseeing the implementation of the Environment Sustainability Strategy including the delivery of key actions such as Council’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Plan and Circular Economy Policy.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including site management and environmental monitoring at Council’s Closed Landfill and  Transfer Station sites.
  • Provide advice both internally and externally on environmental matters relating to climate change mitigation and adaptation

About the Successful Candidate

As the ideal candidate, you will possess a strong background in environmental science or a related field, coupled with experience in project management and stakeholder engagement. Your ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, will be crucial as you collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and members of the community.
