About the Role

A brand new permanent role to Baw Baw Shire Council this is an exciting opportunity to shape what the future looks like for our organisation and community through a diverse and intersectional lens.

Working within the Connected Communities team the role will help facilitate dialogue, provide education, and advocate for frameworks that address systemic inequities, ensuring that marginalised groups and underrepresented communities have equitable access to resources, opportunities, and Council services.

Leading the important and sometimes complex work required for the development of, and then support for the organisational-wide implementation and monitoring of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan and Disability Action Plan to guide Council’s works as it relates to Reconciliation and diverse and inclusive communities.

The role is varied, we’re looking for someone who can go from being a business partner supporting council staff to utilise tools and resources to undertake Equity Assessments one day to an events planner the following day partnering with a key stakeholder to provide a Council endorsed Day of Significance event as identified through the Connected Communities business plan.

 

About the Successful Candidate

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer to lead and advance our DEI strategies and programs. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong people focus and background in DEI principles and practices, capable of driving meaningful systemic change and fostering an inclusive environment.


They’ll be a well-rounded communicator with exceptional engagement skills, who can use or learn a range of internal and external programs while working as part of a close-knit team. They’ll have attention to detail, be organised and interested in championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within Baw Baw Shire Council and our community.
