An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced leader to join Baw Baw Shire’s Environment Sustainability team in the role of Coordinator Resource Recovery.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Environment Sustainability, this position will play an integral role in procuring and delivering Councils waste services and the objectives of Council’s Waste Management Plan 2021-25. The position will be responsible for coordination of Council’s Resource Recovery team which is responsible for the management and delivery of waste service contracts including, kerbside municipal waste collection, transfer station operations, closed landfill aftercare management, public litter bins, at-call hard waste collection, illegal dumping, and litter prevention and waste education programs.

The position will also be responsible for liaising with waste sector stakeholders in relation to the introduction of new waste reforms identified in the State Government’s Recycling Victoria: a new economy Plan and Policy as well as implementing community education campaigns to facilitate the introduction of new or changed waste services.

About the Successful Candidate

Our ideal candidate will bring:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in waste services and management. We’re looking for someone with substantial experience that aligns with the role’s demands.

  • A track record in operations and management within the waste sector, showcasing expertise in resource recovery and a deep understanding of circular economy principles.

  • Strong technical know-how of the waste industry, resource recovery, and circular economy principles.

  • Excellent communication skills that enable you to convey ideas and strategies effectively.

  • Proven experience managing small teams, demonstrating your ability to lead and motivate others.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, reflecting your capability to inspire and drive success.

  • A current driver’s licence valid in Victoria.
