About the Role
As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in delivering financial insights that drive smart, data-informed decisions across the organisation. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to short, mid, and long-term financial planning while monitoring and reporting results to the executive leadership team, council and the community.
In this role, you will advise the business on financial matters to optimise outcomes, and support decision-making through robust business modelling. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish Annual Resource Plans for Council staff in allocated divisions.
- Contribute to completion of the annual and mid-year budget process.
- Contribute to completion of the Long-Term Financial Plan.
- Assist with preparation of Monthly Reports to Executive leadership, including variance analysis.
- Assist with preparation of Quarterly Reports to Council, including variance analysis.
- Prepare and complete the financial year end acquittals.
- Provide support to the Management Accountant and team.
- Provide business partner support to allocated divisions.
- Contribute to the review and development of finance policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in corporate improvement programs to maximise the effectiveness of the Council’s service delivery to its community.
- To perform all duties required of the position in a manner that provides efficient, effective and quality services and which leads to the sustained improvement in productivity of the unit and the Council.
About the Successful Candidate
To thrive in this role, you will be CA or CPA qualified. You will bring a strong foundation in financial and management accounting, with deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and a sharp focus on long-term financial planning. You’re someone who can not only understands the numbers but uses them to drive smarter decisions and continuous improvement. Your experience in leading process optimisation and leveraging financial systems to boost efficiency will be key to your success.
You are a natural communicator who can translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Your ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation sets you apart. In a fast-paced and evolving environment, your strong organisational skills, and ability to juggle competing priorities will help you deliver results that matter.
