We have an exciting opportunity to join Council’s Finance team as a Financial Accountant where you will apply your skills and experience to provide accurate, timely and compliant financial accounting and reporting support across Council.

About the Role

As the Financial Accountant you will work closely with the Coordinator Financial Accounting Services and partner with colleagues across the Financial Services team to support sound financial decision-making across Council. Your work will directly contribute to accurate reporting, strong financial governance and compliance outcomes that support the delivery of services to the community.

You’ll use your technical expertise to manage month-end and year-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory and audit reporting, and the ongoing maintenance of financial controls and documentation. Beyond core accounting, you’ll play an active role in system integrations and continuous improvement initiatives, helping to streamline processes and enhance the way Council works.

About the Successful Candidate

Our ideal candidate will be CPA or CA qualified with a recognised tertiary qualification in accounting or will have significant experience in a similar role with a closely related qualification. You will bring experience in a financial accounting role within a comparable environment, along with strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
