Make a meaningful impact by leading Council’s management accounting and financial planning functions.
As the Coordinator Management Accounting, you will drive high‑quality financial planning, analysis, and reporting across the organisation to support strong performance and long‑term financial sustainability. This is a senior leadership role with oversight of the annual budget, forecasting processes, and business partnering services that enable informed decision‑making at all levels of Council.
Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and senior leaders, you will provide financial insight, strengthen governance and controls, and lead a skilled team delivering trusted advice to service managers. With a strong continuous improvement mindset, you’ll help shape financial strategies, systems, and processes that support Council’s priorities and community outcomes.

About the Role

As Coordinator Management Accounting, you will lead the Management Accounting team and deliver high‑quality budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis that supports operational and strategic decision‑making across Council.
Key aspects of the role include:

  • Leading and coordinating the annual budget and forecasting processes, aligned with the Long‑Term Financial Plan and financial sustainability objectives
  • Providing strong business partnering and financial advice to service managers to support effective resource management
  • Overseeing monthly reporting and variance analysis, delivering clear, insightful commentary to senior leadership
  • Supporting the Capital Works Program, including financial oversight, monitoring, and advice on project impacts
  • Strengthening financial governance, controls, and data integrity through robust processes and continuous improvement
  • Supporting the CFO in delivering Council’s Financial Strategy and sustainability initiatives

This role operates in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment and plays a critical role in ensuring Council’s financial information is trusted, timely, and decision‑ready.

About the Successful Candidate

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring strong technical expertise in management accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis, ideally within a complex, multi‑functional organisation such as local government.
You’ll be an experienced people leader who can set direction, mentor staff, and foster a high‑performing, customer‑focused team. Your ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders, explain complex financial concepts clearly, and influence outcomes will be key to your success.
Highly organised, analytically strong, and improvement‑focused, you’ll be comfortable working with financial systems and data while maintaining a strategic, big‑picture perspective.
