Blacktown City Libraries offers 5 community libraries across our local government area in Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park and our flagship service, the Max Webber Library, in the heart of the Blacktown CBD.

About the opportunity

This position will work in a team responsible for providing positive customer experiences at Mt Druitt Library on a permanent, part-time basis for 20 hours per week. 

In a typical day, the successful applicant will:

  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Deliver high quality community-focused programs
  • Work closely with colleagues
  • Help customers to access the full range of library services.

This role will suit you if you are a skilled communicator, love working with people and have good knowledge of cultural trends. You also need well-developed technology skills. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • Previous library experience
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer focused service
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Relevant computer skills
  • Current class C driver’s licence
  • Working with Children Check number.

Desirable:

  • First aid certification
  • Ability to speak a community language.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,265.47 per week pro-rata
  • 20-hour working week 
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.

This position has been identified as child related work, in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013.
