About the opportunity

This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity responsible for the development, management and implementation of stakeholder communications and engagement for Council’s Kids’ Early Learning department.

The role is responsible for the development, management and implementation of stakeholder communications and engagement. The role will be required to develop consistent, effective and strategically aligned communications content. This includes managing and developing promotional content across a range of different platforms including social media, for Kids’ Early Learning.

About Kids' Early Learning

Here at Council, we own and operate a childcare business, Kids’ Early Learning, with a portfolio of 27 childcare centres and over 70 family daycare educators.

Kids’ Early Learning has approximately 300 full-time, part-time and casual staff, and operates throughout the Blacktown local government area, serving over 1700 families and providing care and learning needs for their children.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree qualification in communications, public relations or marketing
  • Solid experience in a similar communications or marketing role
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, a capacity to work independently and prioritise workloads
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a proven ability to write and produce communications for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to think independently and make sound judgements as required and work in a team context
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information
  • Ability to quickly build strong relationships and rapport with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • The ability to work well under pressure on simultaneous tasks with tight deadlines
  • Sound knowledge of online content and social media trends and issues, best practice processes and emerging technologies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Class ‘C’ drivers licence.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a marketing and communications role(s) with children focused products or services
  • Previous experience in family and/or community engagement or from an education or learning based organisation
  • Proficiency in graphic design and experience using the Adobe suite programs
  • Work collaboratively within the City Living portfolio to ensure programs and communication collateral are aligned with the Blacktown City Council brand strategy and visual identity and any other relevant communication requirements
  • Project a professional and positive image of KEL
  • Work in a manner that exemplifies KEL’s circle of teamwork traits of trust, honest, respect and courtesy with all other staff.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,796.10 per week 
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
