Our Key Venues section oversees all of our aquatic and leisure centres. We deliver first-class activity and program choice, we promote Blacktown City as the leader in sport, recreation and leisure and we give every visitor and customer a safe and memorable experience. Casual Activity Assistants will provide pool supervision at the following centres:

  • Blacktown Aquatic Centre
  • Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope
  • Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton
  • Riverstone Swimming Centre (seasonal)
  • Mount Druitt Swimming Centre (seasonal).

Expressions of Interest are being sought for enthusiastic Activity Assistants to apply. Successful applicants will be responsible for maintaining high quality pool supervision and centre cleanliness and also assist with setting up equipment for program delivery.

Position purpose:

Activity Assistants are responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the facility through adherence to Policy and Procedures and the facilitation of a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors to the Centre.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Relevant experience
  • Class “C” driver’s licence
  • Current Working with Children Check.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
  • Experience and knowledge of water testing procedures
  • Experience in a similar position 
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this role starts at $29.2716 per hour plus 25% casual loading
  • Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts 
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
