About the opportunity
An opportunity exists for a Senior Building Surveyor in our Building Policy Team on a permanent, full-time basis. The team is currently responsible for built form fire safety audits of existing buildings, assessment of building information certificate applications for unlawful works, and technical advice and assistance to other officers across the Directorate and Council.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Degree in Building Surveying or able to demonstrate equivalence
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience
- Accredited or eligible for registration under the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018 as a Building Surveyor – restricted (all classes of building)
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021 as they relate to building development
- Current Class ‘C’ Driver’s Licence.
Desirable:
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Superior liaison and negotiation skills
- Experience in the conduct of fire safety audits and serving of orders.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $2,011.56 per week
- 35-hour working week
