About the opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed, innovative and experienced engineer to join the tenders and contracts unit in our Asset Planning and Support team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This team is responsible for ensuring proper delivery and management of contracts and tenders to support the diverse portfolio of projects including transport, drainage, open space and community infrastructure. As one of our valuable team members, you will contribute to our strategic procurement plan and contract management framework.

If you are energetic, bright, skilled with experience in preparing public work contracts, then this is the role for you!

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • University qualifications in Civil Engineering, preferably a degree qualification in a relevant or related field
  • Experience in various functional areas  outlined in “Key Accountabilities” 
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Highly developed skills in the use of relevant PC applications
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Current class 'C' driver's licence.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of specifications, contracts and tenders in the construction industry
  • Working knowledge of Local Government Act 1993
  • Working knowledge of tendering process and contract management in local government
  • Strong analytical and market research skills.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,011.56 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Car allowance or leaseback vehicle
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
