About the opportunity

This is an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for a suitably qualified professional to lead and deliver our resource recovery programs in Blacktown City. The role leads a team of 4, providing outcomes and actions identified in our Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2022-2032, Clean Cities Strategy and Illegal Dumping Action Plan.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant degree qualification in an environmental or similar field
  • Extensive local government experience and/or sound knowledge of and experience in the development of strategies and policies
  • Experience in direct supervision of staff
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills including a proven record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget
  • Strong and effective interpersonal, teamwork and customer experience skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to liaise with Council staff, contractors and the community 
  • Current class C driver's licence.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated contract management skills
  • Strong investigation and analysis skills for reporting and efficiency project development.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,175.94 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Leaseback vehicle
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
