About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Compliance and Programmed Maintenance Officer to join our Building Construction and Maintenance section on a permanent, full-time basis.

This role is primarily responsible for:

  • the implementation and activation of Building Construction and Maintenance’s annual inspection, testing, tagging, associated documenting and record keeping register to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
  • the preparation and monitoring of related maintenance programs, work schedules, estimates and quotations, and to assist with Council’s asset management system. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Trade qualification or Certificate IV in a related field
  • In-depth experience in the building construction and maintenance area including dealing with and directing an in-house labour force as well as contractors
  • Ability to work within a team environment while also working independently
  • Current class C driver’s licence
  • Solid knowledge of application of skills in complex areas of the job (In particular TMV, Backflow and Stormwater, asbestos containing material, roofs, Test and Tagging and RCD’s and smoke alarms in residential buildings)
  • Solid knowledge of working in a local government
  • Proficient computer skills. 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Council’s compliance requirements, in particular in relation to Building Construction and Maintenance
  • Confined Space certified
  • Background in Plumbing, Electrical or related field. 

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,566.49 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Car allowance
