About the opportunity

Here at Blacktown City Council, we are dedicated to preserving and enhancing our urban forest. Our Tree Team plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and beauty of our community's trees.

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our team as an Urban Forest Administrator on a term contract, full-time basis for up to 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Administrator with extensive relevant work experience in administrative roles, preferably in environmental or arboricultural fields, who is interested in working with a busy team to provide administrative support and provide exceptional customer experience. The preferred candidate will need an excellent level of communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to process and prioritise so that the business unit can run smoothly and efficiently. 

Some of the duties include:

  • Coordinating the department’s VIPs and correspondence
  • Ensuring deadlines are met for typing reports to Council, VIP correspondence, processing of applications and service requests
  • Providing high quality and accurate customer service when handling written or oral correspondence to enquiries
  • Filtering incoming telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • A minimum Certificate III in Business Administration or related field
  • Suitable experience in an administrative function or similar role.

Desirable:

  • Local government experience
  • Experience working within a tree management environment.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,361.20 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
