About the opportunity
Become a champion for our local ecosystems! We're excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a passionate Bush Regeneration Trainee to join our team on a term contract, full-time basis for up to 2 years, and make a real difference in the Blacktown City.
You will:
- embark on a comprehensive learning journey, attending and successfully completing your Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management at a leading Registered Training Organisation
- be actively involved in the regeneration and revegetation of bushland and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) sites across Blacktown City. Your tasks will include preparing and planting sites, the correct removal and control of weed species, and the essential maintenance of bushland reserves, WSUD sites, and constructed wetlands
- gain experience in cleaning Gross Pollutant Traps (GPTs), planting macrophytes (aquatic plants), collecting seeds from endemic plant species, and native plant propagation
- learn about herbicide applications
- have the opportunity to conduct vegetation site assessments and provide valuable technical support to Council’s bushcare and nursery programs.

Who can apply
- Applicants must not have completed a Certificate III qualification or above in a similar field
- Applicants who are motivated, enthusiastic, and committed to providing a high standard of customer service
- Applicants who have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen or be eligible to work in Australia (evidence required)
- Applicants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
