About the opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Team Leader Nurragingy Precinct to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
This fast-paced role is responsible for maintaining our formal gardens and landscape areas in one of councils high profile reserves.
The preferred candidate will:
- Focus on the beautification of our premier greenspace areas, formal gardens, waterbodies and continuing improvement of the horticultural amenity of our public greenspace
- Assist with the development and training of Apprentices
- Lead the Maintenance crews in the servicing and maintenance of our premier greenspace areas to ensure a high-level, quality horticultural service is performed and the landscape finish remains safe, attractive and inviting to use to our park visitors.
Council is seeking a highly motivated and appropriately qualified individual to lead a small team to undertake the maintenance and landscape improvement works of the Nurragingy Reserve Precinct.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens or related areas
- Solid experience in the preparation of formal lawns, gardens, wetlands and aquatic garden areas
- Current class MR driver’s licence
- Solid staff supervision experience
- Extensive experience in maintenance of Greenspace areas including high profile parks, reserves, etc.
- Chemical application AQF4
- RTA approved traffic control accreditation
- Knowledge of applicable legislations /regulations
- Computer literacy in Microsoft office, the use of tablet devices and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Solid experience in setting up for major events
- Solid experience in liaising with contractors
- Experience in the control of noxious
- Chainsaw operation certificate of competence.
Desirable:
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Demonstrated knowledge of Work health and safety, Equal Employment opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Principles.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,566.49 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
