About Blacktown International Sports Park (BISP)

Located along the Westlink M7, Blacktown International Sports Park (BISP) is the premier elite training and playing facility in Western Sydney. First opened in 2000 for the Sydney Olympic Games, the facility has continued to grow and now incorporates a variety of sporting facilities across 54 hectares, including:

  • Blacktown Football Park
  • Athletics
  • Cricket/AFL Precinct
  • Baseball
  • Softball
  • Blacktown Exercise Sport and Technology HUB (BEST)
  • Blacktown Disability Sports Centre.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, this permanent, full-time role will lead an experienced and passionate team, responsible for ensuring all landscape, gardens and common areas are maintained in accordance with service level requirements. With excellent attention to detail, ability to deliver under pressure and meet agreed deadlines, you will take proactive steps in ensuring Blacktown International Sportspark is presented at the highest quality for its stakeholders and the general public.

Suitable candidates will have:

  • Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft office suite and online Turfkeeper program 
  • Sound communication skills 
  • Sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks and Gardens 
  • Chemical Application Accreditation AQF4 or equivalent
  • Solid experience in leading a team
  • Extensive experience and knowledge e in the maintenance of gardens and landscaped areas including turfed areas, annuals, exotic, native, streetscapes (median and roundabout) or high profile areas 
  • Current class C driver's licence.

Desirable:

  • RMS approved Traffic Controller Implementation Accreditation
  • Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
  • Current class MR driver’s licence
  • Senior First Aid Certificate.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,621.31 per week
  • 38-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
