About the opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and appropriately qualified Team Leader Urban Precincts to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
This fast-paced role is responsible for maintaining our formal gardens, waterbodies and catchments in councils high profile reserves.
The preferred candidate will:
- Focus on the beautification of our premier greenspace areas, formal gardens, waterbodies and continuing improvement of the horticultural amenity of our public greenspace
- Assist with the development and training of Apprentices
- Lead the Maintenance crews in the servicing and maintenance of our premier greenspace areas to ensure a high-level, quality horticultural service is performed and the landscape finish remains safe, attractive and inviting to use to our park visitors.

Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens or related area
- Solid experience in the preparation and maintenance of formal lawns, gardens, wetlands and aquatic garden areas
- Solid experience in leading a team
- Chemical Application AQF4
- Class MR driver’s licence
- RTA approved traffic controller’s accreditation
- WHS General Induction Certificate (White Card)
- Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, the use of tablet devices and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in liaising with contractors
- Experience in the control of noxious weeds
- Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,451.97 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
