We have 6 community libraries across our local government area: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, and Marsden Park Temporary Library. We also have a popular mobile library service.

About the opportunity
Blacktown City Libraries are seeking an enthusiastic library professional to engage with the community through the services of the Mobile Library on a permanent, full-time basis.
The job includes the development of library services through the mobile library; this includes organising site visits, and events that promote the diverse services of Blacktown City Libraries.
Responsibilities include:
- Participating in the Library team effort of providing excellent customer service, through the mobile library and other tier 3 library services
- Managing and overseeing the day to day operations of the Mobile Library in a professional and welcoming manner
- Responsible for the delivery of high-quality customer and library services such as lending, information, reader services, programs, technology and equipment, and collection arrangements
- Supervising, leading and developing staff in the delivery of customer focussed, innovative and contemporary public library services.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Eligibility for professional membership of ALIA
- Suitable library experience
- Current class C driver's licence
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Experience in community engagement, communications and marketing
- Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
- Demonstrated skills in team leadership and staff supervision
- Well-developed problem-solving skills
- Proven excellent computer skills, including experience in the use of online resources, library management systems and library apps.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, deliver and evaluate programs
- Experience developing and delivering innovative community partnerships and evaluating outcomes
- Knowledge and understanding of key stakeholders in the community, including government, non- government and business and a demonstrated ability to work with these stakeholders
- Experience with stakeholder liaison
- Training skills and experience
- Experience in library promotional activities
- First aid certification
- Ability to speak a community language.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,563.45 per week
- 35-hour working week
- Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
