We have 6 community libraries across our local government area: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, and Marsden Park Temporary Library. We also have a popular mobile library service.

About the opportunity

Are you a qualified Library Technician who believes local libraries should be at heart of their communities? Do you enjoy connecting customers with resources and services, while providing a welcoming, supportive environment?

We are seeking a Library Technician to join our team at Riverstone on permanent, full-time basis, where you will:

• Be involved in delivering educational, fun and vibrant programs for children
• Sustain services for local home delivery customers, including selecting based on personalised profiles
• Create imaginative displays to promote our collections
• Provide expert, knowledgeable information services that use the full range of the Library’s online and print resources.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

• Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
• Previous library experience
• Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer focused service
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
• Well-developed problem-solving skills
• Relevant computer skills
• Current class C driver’s licence
• Working with Children Check number.

Desirable:

• First aid certification
• Ability to speak a community language.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

• Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week
• 35-hour working week 
• Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
• Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
