About the opportunity

We are seeking 2 experienced Project Managers to join our Transformational Projects team on a term contract, full-time basis for up to 4 years. This role is responsible for the program management duties for the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) and Office Accommodations Transformational Projects program, overseeing the successful delivery of the WSIG program and supporting other related projects as required.

You will be required to:

  • Support the delivery of a range of public domain and building construction projects
  • Coordinate effectively with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, resource allocation, procurement and capital expenditure across all programs, including the provision of progress reports
  • Complete assigned tasks to ensure Council’s Transformational Projects are delivered to a high standard of design, and in line with program, budget, and brief requirements
  • Where required, develop strategies, policies and procedures to support the successful delivery of Transformational Projects.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Urban Design, Civil Engineering or a related
    field
  • Extensive experience in in managing infrastructure or building projects in the public or private sector
  • Proven track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects - minimum 4 years’ relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in administering construction contracts (e.g., AS 4902
    Design & Construct, AS 4000 Construct Only, Early Works and Minor Works Contracts)
  • Ability to proactively manage multiple concurrent projects at varied phases and respond effectively to
    unforeseen risks
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment and working effectively with internal and external support functions
  • High-level communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Sound understanding of WHS, environmental management, and risk mitigation in a construction context
  • Current class C driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of procurement, budgeting, and reporting processes in a NSW local government context
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., NSW Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and
    Assessment Act)
  • Experience in the design and documentation of infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, TechOne, and CiAnywhere)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,078.51 per week
  • 35-hour working week
