About the opportunity
We are seeking two motivated and enthusiastic females to join our heavy vehicle mechanic apprenticeship. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a qualified professional and obtain a nationally recognised trade qualification, commencing January 2026 on a term contract, full-time basis for up to four years.
Throughout the first three years, you will receive on the job training, and fourth year will be a purely practical experience. Ideal candidates will embark on a structured learning journey, attending and successfully completing a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. During this apprenticeship, you will be working with, and supported by qualified tradespeople.
The salaries and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Blacktown City Council Enterprise Agreement.
Who can apply
- Applicants must be minimum 15 years of age or older
- No longer at school or home-schooled
- If currently enrolled in school or home-schooled must:
- Have completed year 9 or equivalent
- Provide written approval to proceed from either a school principal or NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or an authorised person acting in lieu of a school principal.
- This position is designated as female-identified in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s exemption under section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) and therefore, applicants must identify as female to be considered.
- No experience required
- Ability to obtain a class C driver’s licence when able to
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen or be eligible to work in Australia (evidence required).
