We have 6 community libraries across our local government area: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, and Marsden Park Temporary Library. We also have a popular mobile library service.

About the opportunity

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Clerical Officer to support our Library Operations team at Max Webber Library on a term contract, part-time basis for up to 3 months. 

As a key member of our team, you will provide vital administrative support across a range of library services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling cash and banking procedures with accuracy and professionalism
  • Assisting with the setup and pack-down of furniture and equipment for events at the Max Webber Library Function Centre
  • Supporting the creation of e-Newsletters and helping maintain our digital presence on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Eventbrite.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Suitable experience and or relevant qualifications
  • Relevant computer skills, including but not limited to MS Office
  • Experience in cash handling and banking
  • Relevant experience in accordance with requirements outlined in the position description
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to customer service
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
  • Well-developed problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of EEO and WHS principles with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse client groups
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Desirable: 

  • Current class C driver’s licence
  • Public library experience
  • Experience using TechnologyOne or similar software
  • Experience with web publishing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain social media accounts.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,315.70 per week pro-rata
  • 22.5 hour working week 
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
