About the opportunity

We are seeking two skilled General Tradespersons to join our dynamic Building Construction and Maintenance team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will collaborate with over 200 qualified tradespeople across a range of disciplines, contributing towards delivering projects and the ongoing maintenance of our assets.

With approximately 500 buildings owned by Council, including commercial, industrial and residential properties, you will play a key role in ensuring the upkeep and functionality of these facilities, along with other infrastructure.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

• A minimum qualification for this position is a trade certificate
• Solid work experience as a qualified tradesperson including the supervision of staff
• Current class C driver's licence.

Desirable:

• Qualifications of a Post Trade or Advanced Certificate in a related area
• Current class MR driver’s licence
• General experience in various building trades
• Strong base knowledge across the building trade
• General building and structure repairs skills including but not limited to:
  • Plaster and Gyprock repairs
  • Floor and wall tiling
  • Masonry and concreting
  • General metal fabrication work including fencing and gate
  • General landscaping repairs.
• Basic computer skills. 

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

• Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week
• 38-hour working week
• Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
• Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
