About the opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Supervisor Civil Operations to join our Civil Asset Maintenance team on a permanent, full-time basis.
In this pivotal role, you will lead and supervise operational staff, tradespeople, contractors, and sub-contractors engaged in civil works, ensuring projects are delivered to specification and within budget. You will play a key role in maintaining Council’s civil infrastructure, including roads, drainage, concrete works, signage, and restoration projects, while also responding to customer requests and liaising with the community.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to uphold high service standards and contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives. This role requires coordination across multiple work areas, adherence to legislative and policy frameworks, and the ability to resolve complex issues through sound judgment and analysis. Your communication and problem-solving skills will be essential in guiding teams, managing priorities, and representing Council with professionalism and integrity.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Trade qualification or Certificate IV in a related field
- Extensive experience in the application of skills in all aspects of the job
- Solid knowledge of application of skills in complex areas of the job
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of operational and/or other trades/technical staff
- Demonstrated communication skills when responding to staff
- Current class C driver’s licence.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,790.59 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
- Leaseback vehicle
