About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Assets Accountant to join our Finance team on a permanent, full-time basis. 

Working within a high-performing Finance team, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in asset accounting, capital project reporting, asset lifecycle management and fixed asset compliance, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A demonstrated ability to analyse and clearly communicate key financial and non-financial data to a range of stakeholders is vital to this role. The role requires a proactive self-starter who can support the Coordinator Financial Accounting with asset reconciliations, annual asset revaluations, preparing audit documentation and continuous improvement of asset management processes.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree qualifications in Accounting or a related discipline 
  • In-depth experience in asset accounting or a related field 
  • Current class C driver's licence.

Desirable: 

  • Experience in Asset Management accounting within local government
  • Experience in asset lifecycle management in local government or large organisation.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,338.60 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
