About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated civil engineer to join Asset Planning and Support team on a term contract, full-time basis for up to 12 months.
In this role, you will support the delivery and administration of contracts and tenders, contributing to projects, maintenance and operation across transport, pavements, drainage, open space and community infrastructure. Working closely with the team and internal stakeholders, you will assist with procurement planning, tender documentation, contract formation and ongoing contract management. You will help ensure these activities are delivered in accordance with legislative requirements, Council policies and best‑practice frameworks.
This role is ideal for an organised and collaborative engineer with experience in civil engineering contracts and tendering, strong analytical and communication skills, and a commitment to delivering value‑for‑money outcomes for the community.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- University qualifications in Civil Engineering, preferably a degree qualification in a relevant or related field
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Highly developed skills in the use of relevant PC applications
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Current class C driver’s licence.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of specifications, contracts and tenders in the construction industry
- Working knowledge of tendering process and contract management in local government
- Strong analytical and market research skills.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $2,165.24 per week
- 35-hour working week
